HW IP Designer
QualcommJob Title
HW IP Designer
Role Summary
Join Qualcomm Interconnect Technology Center (QITC) as a hardware IP designer focused on interconnect/NoC units. You will take ownership of units from specification and micro‑architecture through RTL implementation and support verification and integration activities.
The role is part of a small experienced ASIC/NoC engineering team delivering SoC interconnect IP for mobile, automotive, and IoT platforms. Work will involve cross‑team collaboration with architecture, verification, exploration, and support groups.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical candidates have multiple years of ASIC/IP design experience (around 3–5 years). Minimum experience expectations vary by degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Accountabilities include turning product requirements into working RTL and ensuring correct verification and integration.
- Develop unit specifications from product requirement documents in collaboration with architects.
- Create micro‑architectures and write clear specification documents reviewed with peers and verification teams.
- Implement RTL and perform simulations; collaborate closely with verification to ensure coverage and correctness.
- Work with exploration and support teams during development and integration phases.
- Support debug, root cause analysis, and apply engineering change orders (ECOs) as required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes; listed items reflect core requirements.
- Proven ability to design robust micro‑architectures and produce RTL (coding and simulation).
- Strong RTL languages and scripting: Verilog/SystemVerilog, Python; familiarity with C++ is beneficial.
- Experience with SoC/ASIC design flow, integration and validation.
- Familiarity with AMBA protocols (AXI, CHI) used in interconnect IP.
- Version control and tool familiarity: Git or SVN; simulation tools such as NcSim.
- Analytical, methodical, self‑driven, with effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work in an international, multi‑site team; English required, French recommended.
Education Requirements
Preferably Master's in Electrical Engineering or Digital Design; minimum qualifications mention Bachelor's in Science/Engineering (plus 2+ years ASIC design) OR Master's (plus 1+ year) OR PhD. Fields: electrical engineering, digital design, computer/engineering or related technical fields. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
