Hardware Test Infrastructure Engineer
Efficient ComputerJob Title
Hardware Test Infrastructure Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and scale ATLAS, the company's hardware regression testing and performance-profiling infrastructure that automates benchmarking and validation of company and competitor hardware. The role spans embedded software, test programs, and cloud infrastructure to provide data that drives engineering and product decisions.
Work cross-functionally with hardware and software teams to deploy, debug, and maintain embedded platforms and the cloud services that coordinate and analyze large-scale tests.
Experience Level
Senior β lead-level role. Requires 5+ years of experience in cloud and embedded hardware infrastructure, test engineering, or full-stack systems roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing, operating, and improving the hardware test and profiling infrastructure.
- Develop and scale ATLAS: automated benchmarking, test orchestration, and performance profiling pipelines.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot embedded hardware platforms (FPGA, Ambiq, Apollo, PIC32, Efficient E1, etc.).
- Write, port, and maintain low-level C/C++ test programs to measure performance, power, and functional behavior.
- Monitor system health, triage failures, perform root-cause analysis, and improve resilience and observability.
- Build Python tooling and scripts to automate workflows, parse results, and generate reports and dashboards.
- Operate and evolve Kubernetes deployments for hardware-attached worker nodes (job queueing, load balancing, scheduling, resource management).
- Design, implement, and maintain Go-based server and client applications; manage PostgreSQL and Redis for operations and caching.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience.
- Hands-on embedded hardware and software development, including embedded toolchains and hardware bring-up.
- Lead-level experience (5+ years) in cloud and embedded hardware infrastructure, test engineering, or full-stack systems.
- Strong Go proficiency; experience building production services with HTTP APIs and WebSockets.
- Proven C/C++ ability for systems-level or test code development and debugging.
- Solid Python experience for tooling, automation, and scripting.
- Practical experience operating and maintaining Kubernetes environments (including queueing/load-balancing patterns).
- Experience with PostgreSQL for operations workloads and Redis for caching; schema and query considerations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to coordinate across multiple engineering teams.
Nice-to-have:
- JTAG/SWD debugging tools and workflows.
- Familiarity with energy and power measurement tools (power monitors, current probes, instrumented fixtures).
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop test systems or large-scale automated benchmarking infrastructure.
- Background in performance profiling, benchmark design, or comparative hardware analysis.
- Familiarity with release engineering for cloud services and embedded firmware.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field β or equivalent practical experience.
