Job Title

Hardware Test Engineer

Role Summary

Coordinate end-to-end design, RFQ, and production release for Automated Test Equipment (ATE) hardware such as change-kits, sockets, load boards and probe cards. Act as the primary vendor technical contact, manage budgets and inventory tools, and provide forecasts to support NPI timelines and production availability.

Perform basic technical evaluation, debugging, and data collection to drive hardware optimization and cost-improvement initiatives.

Experience Level

Mid-level - minimum 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include vendor management, budget and inventory control, cross-functional coordination, and technical validation of ATE hardware.

  • Serve as main technical/commercial contact with ATE hardware vendors.
  • Manage and monitor spending budgets for ATE hardware.
  • Maintain tool/system for ATE hardware requests and track inventory.
  • Forecast ATE hardware needs and coordinate with product engineering and operations to meet NPI timelines, revenue, and capacity requirements.
  • Support hardware buy-off and release to production processes.
  • Perform basic technical evaluation, validation, debug, checkout, and documentation for sockets, boards, and change kits.
  • Identify and execute gross-margin improvement initiatives for load boards, probe cards, test sockets, and change kits.

Must-have technical skills and experience required for this role.

Must-have:

  • Experience managing semiconductor ATE hardware (sockets, boards, change kits, probe cards).
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with hardware buy-off and release to production.
  • Ability to convert technical needs into business plans (technical planning).
  • Advanced analytics skills: forecasting and data analysis.
  • Strong executive communication and ability to present complex data clearly.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across global, multi-department teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and review PCB layouts.

Nice-to-have:

  • Hardware design experience (sockets, kits, boards).
  • Familiarity with design software such as CAD.
