Hardware / Software System Performance Expert

Role Summary

Senior engineering role on the System Design Enablement team focused on performance modeling, virtual prototyping, and methodology development for SoC, multi-die, and chiplet-based systems. Work spans hardware, firmware, software, and system topology to enable early architecture trade-off decisions and reusable evaluation assets.

Responsibilities

Deliver performance models, tools, and validated prototypes to inform architecture and product decisions.

• Develop architecture exploration methodologies for SoC, multi-die, and chiplet systems.
• Build performance models and virtual prototypes using C/C++, Python, and SystemC.
• Create benchmarks, workloads, and design-space exploration tooling for scalable evaluation.
• Collaborate with architecture, IP, software, and verification teams to define modeling and validation strategies.
• Produce reference platforms, technical demonstrations, and reusable assets for customers and internal teams.
• Publish and present technical findings; contribute to standards and community best practices.
• Integrate AI-assisted workflows into prototyping, automation, and data analysis where applicable.

Requirements

Core technical skills and proven track record required. Degrees are listed separately under Education Requirements.

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in system architecture, performance modeling, hardware/software co-design, or semiconductor verification.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python for performance-critical modeling, automation, and tooling.
• Deep experience with hardware design and verification, including RTL development, simulation, debug, and performance characterization of complex SoC or multi-die systems.
• Experience with virtual prototyping, design-space exploration tools, or simulation frameworks for architecture evaluation.
• Proven technical communication via publications, conference presentations, patents, or standards contributions.
• Ability to translate vague architectural questions into concrete modeling plans with defined assumptions, outputs, and timelines.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience integrating AI-assisted development workflows into prototyping or tool development.
• Experience targeting compute-intensive application domains such as automotive, robotics, or automation.

Education Requirements

MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (as specified in the posting).
