Job Title

Hardware Signal Integrity Intern, MS - Summer 2027

Role Summary

Join the Cloud Platform Optics team to support design, verification, and validation of high-speed optical components and integrated platforms. The intern will perform hands-on hardware testing, debugging, and help bring new products from design through NPI.

Experience Level

Internship / Entry-level. Role is aimed at current students (undergraduate or master's) seeking a summer internship; prior lab or hardware course experience is expected.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities for this internship include:

  • Assist in design, development, and testing of electrical hardware for optical modules and AI platforms.
  • Perform hands-on testing and debugging using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and signal analyzers.
  • Execute hardware validation and troubleshooting, including signal integrity checks and system-level tests.
  • Support creation and maintenance of design documentation: schematics, PCB layouts, and BOMs.
  • Collaborate with firmware and ASIC teams to validate hardware/firmware integration and control loops.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and conditions:

  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles and signal integrity concepts.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout (for example Allegro, OrCAD).
  • Proficiency using lab equipment and electrical measurement/testing methodologies.
  • Experience with debugging and troubleshooting hardware in a lab environment.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation (schematics, test reports, BOM entries).
  • Eligible to access export-controlled technology; non-U.S. citizens may require export license review.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, with expected graduation between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028. Relevant coursework in circuits, electrical design, and programming is expected.
