Job Title

Hardware Engineer, Power (DC/DC)

Role Summary

Design and validate DC-DC power conversion and delivery solutions for high-power ASIC modules. The role focuses on validation, characterization, and test development from prototype through production while working with ASIC, platform, and vendor partners.

Experience Level

Mid-level engineer. The role expects substantial practical experience (minimum 6+ years in power electronics validation or test engineering).

Responsibilities

Lead validation and testing efforts and provide technical direction on DC-DC power delivery for high-power digital systems.

  • Lead validation and characterization of DC-DC power conversion systems, including efficiency, transient response, thermal performance, and reliability testing.
  • Contribute to DC-DC design decisions: topology selection, component choices, regulation schemes, and control loop design.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive power validation test plans covering hardware bring-up, functional verification, stress testing, and production qualification.
  • Participate in PDN design activities, including power plane design, stack-up definition, and placement analysis for power delivery networks.
  • Perform hardware bring-up, debug, and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, electronic loads, and thermal instrumentation.
  • Perform power integrity analysis and correlate simulation models with lab measurements.
  • Define test infrastructure and automation strategies for power delivery validation across hardware generations.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and failure investigation for power-related issues during validation or production.
  • Collaborate with ASIC and platform teams to define power-delivery specifications that balance efficiency, thermal constraints, and space.
  • Partner with external vendors to design and qualify power solutions through development milestones.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications reflect the minimum experience and hands-on skills required to perform the role. Preferred items indicate additional, valuable experience.

Must-have:

  • 6+ years of experience in power electronics validation or test engineering focused on DC-DC conversion for high-power digital systems.
  • Proven experience leading hardware bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting of DC-DC power circuits through production.
  • Hands-on use of power validation instrumentation: oscilloscopes, power analyzers, electronic loads, and thermal measurement tools.
  • Experience with power integrity analysis and correlating simulation with lab measurements.
  • Experience developing and executing validation test plans covering efficiency, transient response, and reliability.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with DC-DC topology selection, component selection, and control loop design.
  • Thermal-electrical characterization and validation in space-constrained, high-power applications.
  • Experience validating power solutions for high-power ASICs or accelerators (e.g., >400 W per device).
  • Experience with test automation and infrastructure development for power validation.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
