Job Title
Hardware Engineer
Role Summary
Design, validate, and integrate complex FPGA-based systems used for hardware emulation, prototyping, and diagnostics. Work on RTL development, mapping to Xilinx UltraScale/UltraScale+/Versal platforms, and support lab-level integration and test activities within a cross-functional engineering team.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically 3β7 years experience. This role requests 5+ years of hands-on RTL design and verification experience.
Responsibilities
Key day-to-day responsibilities include development, testing, and system integration of FPGA solutions and diagnostic tooling.
- Define, validate, and enable multi-rack FPGA-based systems for hardware development and prototyping.
- Develop and optimize RTL for Xilinx UltraScale, UltraScale+, and Versal FPGAs to meet performance and reliability targets.
- Map RTL designs into FPGA environments and lead verification and implementation activities to support prototyping.
- Drive hardware emulation strategies on platforms such as Zebu and HAPS and support integration with lab systems.
- Generate, package, and run diagnostic tests for production and field troubleshooting.
- Analyze test results, diagnose hardware issues, and implement fixes to improve system robustness and performance.
- Continuously improve functional and performance testing processes and share knowledge with the team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Bullets marked as "Nice-to-have" are optional but beneficial.
- 5+ years of hands-on RTL design and verification experience with complex FPGA systems.
- Proficiency in Hardware Description Languages: Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog.
- Experience with FPGA implementation flows and tools (e.g., Vivado) and working in Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience with HDL simulation, emulation, and prototyping platforms (for example, Zebu and HAPS).
- Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools and verification methodologies.
- Scripting skills for automation: Shell, Perl, Python, or Tcl.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Nice-to-have: experience mentoring peers and working in cross-functional teams to drive adoption of best practices.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
