Role Summary

Join AMD's hardware verification team to support testing and verification of high-end machine intelligence products. The role involves simulation, test plan development, system-level testing, and production validation while working with senior engineers and designers.

This is a full-time student position (37.5 hrs/week) in a hybrid or onsite structure. Available short-term windows: Winter, Summer, and Fall 2027 with 4- and 8-month options.

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day responsibilities for the intern/co-op assignment include:

• Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and execute performance verification test plans and simulation test cases.
• Write and maintain scripts for resource tracking and test flows using Perl, Python, and related tools.
• Support test regression flows (Perl/Python/MySQL/PHP) and improve simulation performance and team efficiency.
• Debug and improve simulation test cases, models, and RTL (Verilog / SystemVerilog) code.
• Build test platforms and perform system-level and production validation testing of integrated hardware and software.
• Evaluate new tools and processes to reduce duplication and speed verification cycles.

Requirements

• Proficient scripting/programming: Python, Perl, C/C++, Shell. Familiarity with UVM is beneficial.
• Experience with Verilog and SystemVerilog for verification or RTL work.
• Solid understanding of digital systems, computer organization, and fundamentals of logic design (FSMs, timing, registers/flops).
• Experience developing and debugging in Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
• Ability to build and configure PC/hardware for testing (OS/drivers, basic networking, GPUs).
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with CPU/APU architecture, system-level hardware/software integration, MySQL/PHP for test flows, and basic analog/device behavior understanding.
