Graphene Device Physics Modeling Expert (f/m/d)

Role Summary

Develop and maintain physics-based simulation models for graphene photonic devices to support device design and development. Translate state-of-the-art research into reliable simulation capabilities and validate models with experimental data.

Work across device engineering, characterization, and software teams to prioritize modeling efforts and integrate simulation tools into the development workflow.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities include:

  • Survey and translate graphene device modeling literature into implementable models.
  • Implement and maintain simulation code (primarily Python) and integrate with tools and workflows.
  • Use commercial TCAD and multiphysics tools to build and run simulations.
  • Develop models for charge, heat, and optical transport in graphene photonic devices.
  • Calibrate, validate, and refine models using experimental characterization data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align modeling activities with project goals.
  • Document models, tests, and software practices to ensure reproducibility and maintainability.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Strong foundation in solid-state physics, semiconductor physics, and applied mathematics.
  • Experience with semiconductor modeling techniques and solving partial differential equations for charge and heat transport.
  • Experience with TCAD development and multiphysics simulation workflows.
  • Proficiency in Python and version control with Git.
  • Practical experience with graphene and photonics device concepts.
  • Ability to implement mathematical models from scientific literature into robust, maintainable code.
  • Good documentation and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with COMSOL Multiphysics, Ansys Lumerical, or similar commercial simulation tools.

Education Requirements

PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
