Graduate Trainee - Silicon Design Engineer (RTL Design)
Role Summary
As part of the Technology and Engineering Group, this role implements RTL and design tasks for High-Speed IO protocol IPs (USB, PCIe, Ethernet, UFS) used in AMD products. The engineer will plan, build, and execute RTL development, run simulations and regressions, and ensure design correctness through debugging and fixes.
Experience Level
Entry-level — Graduate trainee or recent graduate; suitable for early-career candidates.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Interpret architecture specifications and complete assigned tasks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate progress and issues.
- Run design flows, simulations, and manage regression suites.
- Perform first-level debug to identify root causes of test or design errors.
- Recommend and implement fixes for design and test issues.
- Develop scripts to automate and improve daily tasks.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred skills:
- Basic knowledge of digital and RTL design and familiarity with processor architecture concepts.
- Experience with simulation and regression workflows and debugging RTL/design issues.
- Good communication, teamwork, analytical thinking, and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to develop simple scripts to improve productivity.
- Nice-to-have: SystemVerilog/Verilog, Perl, TCL, Python, and familiarity with AI tools or workflows.
Education Requirements
At least a Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (E&E) or Mechatronics Engineering as stated in the posting.
