Graduate Talent (E-core CPU Physical Design)
Intel CorporationJob Title
Graduate Talent 6 E-core CPU Physical Design
Role Summary
Work on physical design implementation of E-core CPU blocks from synthesis through post-layout verification and tapeout. The role focuses on driving synthesis and Auto-Place and Route (APR) flows, timing and power optimization, and collaborating with micro-architecture, RTL, and circuit teams to meet project targets.
Position is within a CPU physical design team based in Penang supporting future-generation Intel Atom processors.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Graduate. Suitable for new graduates or students; typically 0 62 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include implementation, verification, and optimization of CPU core physical design blocks.
- Logic synthesis and place-and-route for core IP blocks.
- Floorplanning and routing studies; implementation of block/subsystem layouts.
- Block and subsystem-level timing analysis and closure.
- Apply low-power design techniques and power reduction at subsystem level.
- Physical verification and preparation for tapeout.
- Develop scripts for data analysis and tool recipe creation.
- Collaborate with micro-architecture, RTL, and circuit teams to converge on targets.
- Work effectively under aggressive schedules in a team environment.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes for successful candidates.
- Familiarity with logic synthesis flows and APR tool flows.
- Experience or coursework in timing analysis and timing closure methodologies.
- Understanding of low-power design concepts and power optimization strategies.
- Practical scripting ability for automation and data analysis (e.g., Python, Tcl, Perl).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work independently and across abstraction levels within a team.
- Positive attitude toward delivering results under tight schedules.
Nice-to-have: prior experience with CPU/core physical design, familiarity with E-core style microarchitectures, or experience with relevant EDA tools.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Engineering or Master of Science in Electronic, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical degree or equivalent practical experience. Undergraduate students pursuing these degrees may apply.
