Graduate Talent, E-core CPU Design Automation

Role Summary

Join Intel's E-core CPU Design Automation team to support and develop CAD solutions and methodologies for custom CPU design flows. You will work with hardware design teams to implement, test, deploy, and support flows that improve design efficiency and enable production use.

Part of the Silicon and Platform Engineering Group; this role follows a hybrid work model based in Penang, Malaysia.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Graduate β€” targeted at students or recent graduates; typically 0–2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

The role involves developing and supporting CAD methodologies and automation to enable CPU design productivity. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain CAD flows and automation for custom CPU design.
  • Define methodologies and processes to improve CAD tool utilization and design efficiency.
  • Analyze problems, gather requirements, design, implement, test, and deploy solutions.
  • Provide technical support and documentation for production use.
  • Collaborate closely with design teams to integrate CAD solutions into their workflows.
  • Apply automation techniques, including agentic AI approaches, to accelerate design productivity.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Familiarity with VLSI concepts and CMOS logic circuit design.
  • Proficiency with UNIX and scripting; strong C/C++ programming skills.
  • Experience with CAD tools used in semiconductor design.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow structured development and decision-making processes and work in a fast-paced team environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience leveraging AI or automation tools in design flows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's (BS) or Master's (MS) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Role targets students currently pursuing relevant studies or recent graduates; knowledge of semiconductor physics and basic PC computer architecture is expected.
