Job Title

Graduate Talent (CPU-SoC Silicon Design)

Role Summary

Entry-level engineering role focused on training, design and development of next-generation SoC/CPU components for Intel products. Work spans RTL validation, structural physical design, analog IP development and third-party IP integration.

The role is on a hybrid work model based at Intel sites in Malaysia (primary: Penang; additional: Kulim) and will collaborate with design, verification and system integration teams to bring silicon to first‑silicon and production readiness.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Graduate (new graduate). Suitable for recent graduates or early-career engineers.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include simulation, design verification, physical implementation, IP integration and system bring-up:

  • Assist design owners with RTL functional validation using CAD tools to simulate logic and circuit performance; verify behavior against models and first silicon.
  • Define and implement VLSI structural design methodology and design flows: synthesis, floorplanning, power-grid and clock tree, timing budgeting and closure, place-and-route, RC-extraction and integration.
  • Verify structural physical designs for functional equivalency, timing/performance, signal integrity/noise, DRC/LVS, reliability and power.
  • Develop analog IP for deep-submicron CMOS processes, including high-speed clocking circuits (PLL/DLL/bandgap) and I/O circuits (DDR/LPDDR, GPIO, OPIO).
  • Integrate third-party IP: synthesis, functional and timing convergence, pre- and post-silicon debug, handling signals across power planes and clock domains.
  • Work on industry-standard interfaces and system integration (memory LPDDR, eMMC, SATA, UFS, PCIe, USB, MIPI) and collaborate across silicon, firmware, middleware, drivers and OS layers.

Requirements

Essential technical skills and tools for daily work. Education requirements are listed separately below.

  • Must-have: Familiarity with VLSI CMOS logic circuit design and related VLSI concepts.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with UNIX, C programming and common CAD/EDA tools for RTL simulation and physical design.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience or coursework in PLL/DLL design, high-speed I/O (DDR/LPDDR), analog/mixed-signal layout, synthesis and timing closure.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of interface protocols (PCIe, USB, MIPI) and prior exposure to system bring-up, silicon debug or IP integration.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Engineering (BE/BEng) or Master of Science (MSc) in Electronic, Electrical or Computer Engineering.
