Graduate Radio Frequency (RF) Electrical Engineer
Role Summary
Early-career RF electrical engineer joining a product design team (CVD, PVD, or Etch) at KLA's Newport facility as part of the 2027 Graduate Programme (start September 2027).
Work focuses on designing and prototyping RF and analogue electronics used in semiconductor process equipment; training and mentorship are provided through the graduate scheme.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Graduate (part of a structured graduate programme). No prior industry experience required; on-the-job training will be provided.
Responsibilities
Day-to-day engineering tasks and team collaboration focused on RF hardware and test.
- Design and construct prototype electronics and RF hardware.
- Develop RF plasma delivery system generators and RF matching units.
- Design RF matching unit circuitry, networks, transformers, filters, electrode circuitry, isolation and filter circuits.
- Handle DC bias circuitry and PCB design packaging.
- Perform electromagnetic and RF modelling.
- Operate RF test equipment: oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, network analysers, and RF diagnostic probes.
- Work on assigned shift patterns when required to support cleanroom manufacturing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in design, process and manufacturing environments.

- Must-have: Understanding of analogue electronics and electronic circuits.
- Must-have: Awareness of RF and microwave principles and ability to use RF test equipment.
- Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work independently and in teams.
- Must-have: Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must-have: Willingness to work shift patterns when required.
- Nice-to-have: Interest in control systems, instrumentation, and semiconductor process technologies; prior semiconductor industry experience is advantageous.
- Other: Full on-the-job training and graduate development programme participation expected.
Education Requirements
Minimum Bachelor's degree (BSc/BEng) with at least 2:1 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Physics. A Master’s degree or prior semiconductor industry study/experience is desirable but not required. Minimum qualifications also list BSc / BEng.
