Graduate Machine Learning Engineer - Central Technology
ArmJob Title
Graduate Machine Learning Engineer - Central Technology
Role Summary
Join the Central Technology Machine Learning (CTML) team to analyze ML workloads on Arm compute platforms and develop hardware-aware optimisation algorithms and tooling. The role sits within the Centre of Excellence for Machine Learning and collaborates across hardware, software and ML algorithm groups to improve performance, power and scalability on CPU, GPU and NPU platforms.
Experience Level
Entry-level - Graduate programme role suitable for recent graduates or candidates on a graduate trajectory.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include investigation, optimisation and tooling for ML workloads on Arm platforms.
- Analyze current and emerging ML/AI workloads to inform platform support and PPA (performance, power, area) trade-offs.
- Design and implement hardware-aware optimisation algorithms for ML models across CPU, GPU and NPU targets.
- Develop internal tools to support algorithmic and architecture exploration and performance evaluation.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to balance algorithmic and architectural constraints.
- Document findings and present technical results to cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience are listed first; followed by helpful but non-essential qualifications.
- Must-have: Programming experience in Python and practical software development skills.
- Must-have: Experience training and deploying ML models using deep learning libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Must-have: Good understanding of hardware and software design and how ML workloads map to compute platforms.
- Must-have: Strong technical communication skills and ability to present technical analyses.
- Nice-to-have: Experience optimising compute kernels (e.g. CUDA, Triton) and hardware-aware performance optimisation of ML models.
- Nice-to-have: Demonstrated ML/AI project experience in industry or academia and familiarity with the full ML stack from model to hardware implementation.
Education Requirements
Candidates should hold, or be on track to hold by the programme start date, a Master’s or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field. An academic transcript is requested as part of the application.
