Graduate Electrical / Electronic Engineer
Role Summary
Entry-level engineering role on a product design team working on CVD, PVD or Etch tools. The position is based at KLA's Celtic Lakes Newport facility and reports to the product design group delivering electrical and electronic solutions for semiconductor process equipment.
This role is part of the 2027 Graduate programme (start September 2027) and includes structured onboarding, technical and soft-skills training, mentorship and placements across operations and process teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Graduate). No prior professional experience required; the role is designed for recent graduates joining the 2027 Graduate programme.
Responsibilities
Typical day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Design electrical and electronic controls and interfaces for production tools.
- Design electrical assemblies and wiring harnesses; create electrical enclosures using Solid Edge.
- Design AC/DC power distribution circuits, analogue and digital circuits.
- Develop and document technical reports, engineering drawings, build and test guides.
- Perform fault finding, problem solving and testing of electronic systems.
- Design safety-critical circuits to comply with EN13849.
- Occasional shift work to support cleanroom manufacturing schedules (shift allowance provided).
Requirements
Must-have skills and attributes for candidates:
- Strong logical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to collect, filter and analyse data to support engineering solutions.
- Effective communication and ability to work with internal customers and colleagues.
- Willingness to learn; motivated to develop technical skills through on-the-job training and the graduate programme.
- Familiarity with SW tools (MS Office). MATLAB experience is advantageous but not required.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree (BSc/BEng, 2:1) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent. A Master’s degree or prior academic/industry experience in the semiconductor sector is desirable but not required. Equivalent practical experience is accepted where noted.
