Graduate AI and Software Engineer - Automotive MPUs
Role Summary
Entry-level engineering role on the Automotive MPUs applications team in Glasgow. Work focuses on preparing, optimising and deploying machine learning models onto NXP S32N automotive MPUs and building customer-facing demos.
You will prototype edge AI use-cases, write production-quality software, and collaborate with global engineering teams and customers to shape how AI silicon is used in vehicles.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Graduate hire). Suitable for candidates with approximately 0β3 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing and deploying on-device AI solutions, producing demos that support design wins, and collaborating with customers and internal teams.
- Prepare, optimise and deploy ML models onto S32N MPUs and associated toolchains.
- Prototype on-device AI use-cases (in-device assistants, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance) and convert prototypes into demos.
- Write clean, maintainable software; integrate CI/CD and automation into workflows.
- Work directly with global customers and cross-functional engineering teams as the technical contact for AI solutions.
- Identify and implement faster, more automated approaches to tasks and workflows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes for daily work.
- Fluency with AI/ML concepts and tools, including Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or ONNX.
- Comfort experimenting with LLMs and modern AI workflows.
- Software fundamentals and version control (git); C/C++ experience is a plus.
- Practical, hands-on mindset and ability to prototype and iterate quickly.
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical concepts to engineers and customers.
Nice-to-have (will be taught where needed):
- Embedded systems and edge AI deployment experience.
- Automotive and functional-safety awareness.
- Model quantisation and optimisation techniques.
Education Requirements
A degree in Computer Science, Electronics, AI/ML, Software or a related engineering field (graduate hire).
