Job Title

GPU Software Engineer

Role Summary

Work on Intel's graphics software team to develop, validate, debug, and optimize GPU drivers, runtimes, and validation tooling for AI and graphics workloads. The role sits at the intersection of software and hardware and partners with cross-functional teams to bring GPU capabilities to market and resolve system-level issues.

This role focuses on GPU compute and AI workloads, including validation, performance optimization, and integration of AI features into end-to-end validation flows.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typically requires 3+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 1+ years with a Master's degree (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

Contribute to software and validation efforts for GPU compute, graphics drivers, runtimes, and AI framework integration.

  • Develop and run end-to-end validation for GPU software, graphics drivers, and AI applications.
  • Debug and resolve complex software, driver, and system-level issues affecting GPU functionality and performance.
  • Perform triage and root-cause analysis and collaborate with hardware and software teams to drive fixes.
  • Build and maintain automation, benchmarking suites, and debugging tools to improve validation efficiency.
  • Integrate AI features into validation flows and validate hardware acceleration for AI workloads.
  • Analyze cross-component interactions to identify quality, performance, and compatibility issues.
  • Collaborate on cross-OS development and validation for GPU-accelerated AI and ML workloads.
  • Optimize software performance and memory efficiency for inference and agentic applications.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience, plus the teamwork and problem-solving traits needed to operate in a cross-disciplinary engineering environment.

  • Software development experience in C, C++, or Python.
  • Experience with AI validation workloads (for example: LLM inference evaluation, agentic framework integration).
  • Hands-on experience with machine-learning frameworks and runtimes such as PyTorch, OpenVINO, ONNX Runtime, or TensorFlow.
  • Experience with industry-standard graphics/compute APIs such as DirectX, OpenGL, OpenCL, or Vulkan.
  • Technical curiosity and ability to analyze interactions between software, drivers, OS, and hardware.
  • Structured problem-solving, proactive ownership, and clear technical communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience validating or debugging graphics hardware and drivers.
  • Expertise optimizing GPU compute (operator fusion, KV-cache, low-bit quantization like INT4/INT8/FP8).
  • Familiarity with profiling/debug tools (WinDbg, GPUView, GDB, Intel VTune, emulators, JTAG).
  • Experience with CI/CD, automated validation frameworks, and containerized cross-platform testing.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree in a related field with 1+ years of relevant experience. The posting allows related fields; no specific certifications were listed.
