GPU Hardware Intern

Role Summary

10-week summer internship on Arm's hardware team in Trondheim focused on GPU design, verification and implementation. Interns work with engineers on tasks that improve functionality, performance, power and silicon area of graphics hardware.

Experience Level

Internship - intended for current higher-education students. No specific years-of-experience required; this is an early-career role.

Responsibilities

Typical intern activities include:

  • Investigate design improvements to meet requirements for functionality, performance, energy and area.
  • Develop and improve flows and systems for finding and diagnosing hardware bugs.
  • Write and review specifications, test plans and investigation reports.
  • Implement test systems and verification code to validate GPU behavior.
  • Write RTL or behavioral descriptions to model microarchitecture (when applicable).

Key selection criteria and expectations.

  • Must be currently enrolled in higher education and returning to studies after the internship; provide an academic transcript.
  • Solid programming skills (examples: Python, C/C++, scripting) and an interest in processors, graphics or digital systems.
  • Good analytical and interpersonal skills; able to communicate technical ideas precisely.
  • Must have the legal right to work in Norway for the full internship period; Arm cannot sponsor visas for this role.
  • Nice-to-have: exposure to RTL design or FPGA prototyping (e.g. Verilog/VHDL) and understanding of computer architecture concepts.

Education Requirements

Enrolled in a higher-education degree (examples: Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science) and returning to that course after the internship. Candidates with alternative degrees and relevant experience will be considered. Academic transcript required. Equivalent practical experience acceptable where stated.
