Experience Level

Senior engineering manager with significant hands-on hardware and platform development experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Specify and translate platform-level requirements into detailed hardware specifications.
  • Design, evaluate, and optimize PCBs, electronic components, and integrated circuits for GPU platforms.
  • Define component placement, trace routing rules, and board-layout constraints for performance, power, and signal integrity.
  • Lead feasibility studies, board layout, tapeout coordination, and platform power-on and bring-up activities.
  • Develop and execute validation plans and functionality tests to verify platform configurations and compatibility.
  • Research and improve firmware, hardware, and circuitry processes to enhance platform performance and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with architecture, power, thermal, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to resolve system-level issues.
  • Drive improvements in testing, debugging, and manufacturing processes and ensure compliance with industry standards such as PCIe and OAM.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and expectations:

  • Proficiency with electronic design automation (EDA) tools and PCB board-layout software.
  • Strong knowledge of power integrity, signal integrity, and thermal design considerations for high-performance platforms.
  • Familiarity with testing and validation methodologies for GPU platforms and platform-level debug.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and interfaces relevant to GPU platforms (examples: PCIe, OAM).
  • Demonstrated technical leadership on complex hardware development projects and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to hardware bring-up and system integration.
  • Ability to drive decisions that balance performance, power, signal integrity, and manufacturability.
  • Must consent to and pass an extended background investigation (Position of Trust requirement).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required or acceptable as equivalent; experience alternatives specified: 12+ years with a Bachelor's degree, 8+ years with a Master's degree, or 6+ years with a Ph.D. (equivalent practical experience considered where noted).
