Job Title

GPU Design Verification Engineer - Shader Core

Role Summary

Work on verification of AMD's GPU shader processor core to validate functionality, identify issues early, and enable high-quality design releases. Collaborate with architecture, hardware, firmware, and software teams to develop and execute verification strategies across the design cycle.

This position is hybrid and is located in San Diego, CA. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Deliver and improve verification for shader-core IP across hardware, firmware, and software interactions.

  • Collaborate with architecture, hardware, and firmware teams to define and verify new shader core features.
  • Develop comprehensive verification plans covering feature interactions across domains.
  • Estimate verification effort and identify environment or tool enhancements needed.
  • Design, develop, and run directed and constrained-random verification tests.
  • Debug simulation failures and root-cause functional issues in RTL and firmware.
  • Work with design and firmware engineers to triage and resolve defects.
  • Analyze functional and code coverage and implement changes to meet coverage goals.
  • Improve verification methodologies, automation, test infrastructure, and workflows.

Requirements

Core technical skills and practical experience expected or preferred for effective performance in this role.

  • Must-have: Experience in digital/hardware verification and strong debugging skills with RTL and simulation tools.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with SystemVerilog/Verilog and experience working in Linux-based development environments.
  • Preferred: Experience with UVM-based verification environments and IP-level ASIC design verification.
  • Preferred: Proficiency in C and C++; experience with firmware validation and interaction with hardware verification.
  • Preferred: Experience developing verification frameworks, testbenches, automation in distributed compute environments, and simulation performance optimization or acceleration techniques.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with SystemC/TLM and scripting (Perl, Ruby, shell scripting, Makefiles) is a plus.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline preferred.
