GPU Compiler Engineer
Role Summary
Work on GPU compiler and driver software as part of a new GPU Compiler team based in Qualcomm's Cambridge office. The role focuses on designing, implementing, verifying and optimising GPU cores, software models and tools to meet functionality, performance and power targets.
This position is onsite 5 days per week in Cambridge and requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, vendors and external users.
Experience Level
Mid-level (typical 3–7 years of relevant experience). Candidates should have several years of experience with GPU or ASIC-related design, verification, validation, integration or compiler/driver development.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture, software implementation, verification and performance/power optimisation for GPU products.
- Architect, design, implement and optimise GPU cores and related software.
- Develop functional models and simulation environments; write and maintain verification tests.
- Develop driver and compiler software to support GPU products and features.
- Program and run graphics tests to assess functionality, performance and power; analyse and debug issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, third-party vendors and external users to align implementations with requirements.
- Produce clear technical documentation and feature descriptions for internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items are marked.
- Proven experience with GPU architecture, compiler or driver development.
- Experience building functional models and running simulation-based verification.
- Experience developing and running graphics tests and analysing performance/power.
- Strong software development skills for low-level systems (compiler, driver or firmware contexts).
- Ability to debug complex hardware/software interactions and optimise for performance and power.
- Good communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Nice-to-have: Significant prior GPU experience (e.g. 5+ years) or prior ASIC design/verification background.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master’s or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Science or a related technical field are listed in the posting; equivalent practical experience will be considered. (Minimum qualifications specify: Bachelor’s + ~4+ years, Master’s + ~3+ years, or PhD + ~2+ years of ASIC-related experience.)
