GaN Process Integration Engineer (SM1)
Texas InstrumentsJob Title
GaN Process Integration Engineer (SM1)
Role Summary
Drive integration and development of GaN technology nodes for manufacturing, working across ATD, process engineering, parametric test, product development, quality, and manufacturing. Lead technical activities to improve processes, parametric performance, and device outcomes.
The role supports transfer, qualification, and ramp of GaN technologies into production and requires coordination with cross-functional teams to meet device performance and manufacturing targets.
Experience Level
Entry-level - expects approximately 2 years of GaN or compound-semiconductor process integration experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities focus on process and device improvement, parametric performance ownership, and cross-functional execution.
- Drive process and device improvements via characterization, DOE, data analysis and simulation.
- Own technology parametric performance and Cpk improvements; perform parametric test dispositions and root-cause analysis for outliers or scrap.
- Define and evaluate experiments to improve processes and yield.
- Develop and review product flows, short flows, and test chips.
- Partner with RET and other teams to validate OPC and implement improvements.
- Lead cross-functional teams during transfer, development, qualification, and manufacturing activities.
- Coordinate with process, integration, product, quality, reliability, packaging and test engineers to meet schedule and technical goals.
- Communicate project status, risks, and actions; plan and drive schedules to meet critical deadlines across multiple parallel tasks.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills; preferred items listed separately.
- Minimum ~2 years working with GaN or compound semiconductors in process integration and device work.
- Experience with process integration, DOE planning, electrical characterization, and failure analysis.
- Experience designing experiments, analyzing parametric data, and performing root-cause investigations.
- Demonstrated ability to plan effectively, drive schedules, manage multiple priorities, and lead technical discussions across organizations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional work.
- Ownership mindset and ability to drive results in a manufacturing environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor processing, particularly III-V materials.
- Familiarity with GaN-on-silicon technology for power switching applications.
- Hands-on experience with fab tools, process modules, and integration activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, time-management, and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, or semiconductor-specific fields such as solid-state physics, applied physics, or quantum mechanics. Preferred: Master's or Ph.D. in the same fields. (The posting does not specify an explicit "equivalent experience" allowance.)
