FY27 Intern - Soft IP Engineering Internship (Canada, 12 or 16 months)
Role Summary
Internship on Qualcomm Canada’s Soft IP team. The intern will contribute to design and verification of ASIC/FPGA IP blocks and sub-systems, working with experienced engineers on RTL, verification environments, and test development.
This is a hands-on engineering internship focused on hardware design and verification techniques for Ethernet, CXL, PCIe and related IP.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship for current undergraduate students. Available as a 12- or 16-month internship beginning May/June 2027; expected graduation November 2028 or later for eligibility.
Responsibilities
Key day-to-day responsibilities:
- Develop and document verification environments using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Implement and document RTL using Verilog.
- Create and execute testcases against RTL and analyze results.
- Report, triage, and track bugs from discovery to closure.
- Develop automation scripts to support the development and verification workflow.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver standards-compliant IP blocks.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred skills (education summarized separately below):
- Must-have: Experience with Python, Perl, Tcl, or Unix/Linux shell scripting; familiarity with source control (SVN, CVS, RCS); ability to work independently and in a team.
- Nice-to-have: Digital logic and digital design knowledge; experience programming in Verilog or VHDL; prior internship or industry experience; familiarity with ASIC/FPGA flows and debugging tools.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical problem-solving, and good communication skills.
Education Requirements
In-study toward a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or a related field. Expected graduation November 2028 or later. Eligibility: 16-month internships require availability May/June 2027–August/September 2028; 12-month internships require availability May/June 2027–May/June 2028. At least 1+ years of academic experience with programming languages such as C, C++, or Python.
