Job Title

FY27 Intern - Qualcomm SoC Engineering Internship (Canada, 16 months)

Role Summary

Intern position on Qualcomm's SoC engineering team in Markham supporting development of Snapdragon mobile platforms and Data Center SoCs. Work may span RTL design, verification, implementation, physical design, power, DFT and AI/ML engineering.

Interns are assigned to project teams, paired with mentors, and exposed to EDA tools and full SoC development lifecycle tasks.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship targeted at current undergraduate or graduate students and new graduates. Typical background: academic experience with programming and foundational hardware concepts; approximately 0–1 years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

Typical intern responsibilities include:

  • Implement and test RTL or firmware modules; develop code and scripts in Verilog/SystemVerilog, C/C++ or Python.
  • Develop and run verification tests, analyze waveforms and coverage metrics.
  • Support synthesis, timing analysis, floorplanning and other physical design implementation tasks.
  • Participate in pre-silicon and post-silicon validation, debugging, and root-cause analysis.
  • Contribute to power analysis, DFT, low-power design activities, or related engineering tasks.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software and AI teams to integrate blocks and debug system-level issues.
  • Document work, present results to mentors and project teams, and participate in intern program events.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills:

  • Must-have: Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills; ability to learn quickly and work across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Practical experience with programming (C, C++ or Python); familiarity with hardware description languages (Verilog/SystemVerilog) is beneficial.
  • Fundamental understanding of digital logic, computer architecture, CMOS/VLSI, ASIC design or algorithms.
  • Exposure to simulation, waveform debug, functional/code coverage, formal verification, synthesis, timing analysis, physical design, DFT, or silicon validation.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with SoC components (CPU, DSP, AI accelerator, cache, memory, interconnect), machine learning model development, or experience with ML/AI tooling including LLMs and RAG.
  • Note: Candidates from certain countries may require an export license; export-control requirements can delay start dates.

Education Requirements

Enrolled in or pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI/ML, or a related technical field. Expected graduation November 2028 or later. For 16-month internships, availability is required May or June 2027 through August or September 2028. At least one year of academic programming experience with languages such as C, C++ or Python is expected.
