Job Title

FY27 Intern - Analog Design Internship (12 or 16 months)

Role Summary

Work on analog integrated-circuit design and verification as part of Qualcomm's Analog Design team in Toronto. The role provides mentoring, hands-on IC simulation and modelling experience, and cross-functional collaboration with digital, firmware and system teams.

This is an undergraduate internship with project assignments across multiple analog design areas; candidates will be expected to learn and apply circuit simulation, modeling and verification techniques.

Experience Level

Internship / Entry-level - targeted at undergraduate students. Candidates should have relevant coursework or project experience; typical interns are available for 12 or 16 months and expect to graduate November 2028 or later.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day responsibilities include design verification, modeling, simulation and documentation while working with cross-functional teams.

  • Work with engineers to validate analog circuit performance against specifications and system models.
  • Create analog behavior models (SystemVerilog / Verilog-A) and run AMS co-simulation to validate models.
  • Propose design and verification strategies to improve design quality.
  • Present simulation data for peer review and document design features and testbench metrics.
  • Collaborate with analog, digital, firmware and system teams on integration and verification tasks.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills are listed first; preferred skills follow.

  • Must-have: Skilled in Verilog / SystemVerilog for RTL design and verification.
  • Must-have: Knowledge of SPICE simulators and analog simulation methods.
  • Must-have: Ability to work in a team, present simulation results, and document findings.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with EDA tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso) for schematic entry, layout and verification.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of Verilog-A for analog behavioural modeling and familiarity with blocks such as bandgap, regulator, oscillator, op amp, PLL, ADC, or high-speed digital logic.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with transistor-level design at advanced CMOS nodes (e.g., 7nm FinFET and beyond).
  • Nice-to-have: Scripting skills for CAD flow automation (Python, Perl, TCL, Matlab).

Education Requirements

Enrolled in an undergraduate program (bachelor's) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science or a related field. Expected graduation November 2028 or later. Availability windows: 16-month interns: May/June 2027–August/September 2028; 12-month interns: May/June 2027–May/June 2028. At least 1 year of academic experience with programming languages such as C, C++ or Python.
