Job Title

Functional Safety Architect (f/m/d)

Role Summary

The Functional Safety Architect owns functional safety architecture and definition standardization for PMIC products. The role collaborates with chip and system architects, MCU/SoC teams, safety assessors, and product teams to produce repeatable, cost-effective safety solutions and to accelerate functional safety definitions across the product line.

Experience Level

Senior — 10+ years of relevant experience in product definition and functional safety, preferably for PMIC or other power ICs.

Responsibilities

Drive standard functional-safety definitions and guide product teams from system requirements to validated implementation.

  • Standardize functional-safety requirement definitions across PMIC products to meet safety goals while minimizing area and cost.
  • Review PMIC FuSa definitions against industry state of the art and propose documented standard definitions for PMIC building blocks.
  • Define requirements from standards, customer inputs, and system architects; translate system requirements into product definitions.
  • Work with chip and system architects to propose implementation architectures and align requirements with MCU/SoC FuSa teams.
  • Interface with safety assessors to obtain pre-approval for standard safety blocks and review proposed implementations versus requirements.
  • Create and maintain a library of functional-safety definitions targeting family concepts with similar look-and-feel.
  • Advise and mentor product-level FuSa engineers; present training to customers and internal teams.
  • Drive tool-based FuSa workflow and methodology; investigate AI-assisted definition and documentation where appropriate.
  • Review simulation and validation results to confirm correct implementation; focus on minimal design complexity while achieving safety goals.
  • Engage in customer interaction and travel as required for meetings and support.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required and preferred.

  • Must-have: 10+ years of experience in product definition and functional safety with proven product launch track record (PMIC or power IC experience preferred).
  • Must-have: Deep knowledge of safety and compliance standards such as ISO 26262 and AEC-Q100.
  • Must-have: Strong understanding of system-level power requirements, system-level functional safety, and board-level integration challenges for MCU/MPU/SoC systems.
  • Must-have: Experience with functional-safety assessment processes and requirements-management tools; experience using Simplis or similar modeling tools.
  • Must-have: High-level knowledge of mixed-signal design flow through to mass production; ability to balance trade-offs between performance, power, area, and cost.
  • Must-have: Leadership in technical reviews, mentorship experience, strong communication skills with customers and stakeholders, and willingness to travel.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience defining or implementing tool-based FuSa workflows and interest or experience in AI-driven definition/documentation.

Education Requirements

BSc or Master’s degree in engineering (or equivalent). The posting explicitly allows equivalent practical experience in place of a degree.
