Functional Safety Architect
Role Summary
The Functional Safety Architect will be a key member of the semiconductor architecture design team. In this role, the individual will be responsible for device safety architecture and leading efforts to achieve safety goals by developing safety concepts and allocating safety requirements to sub-blocks for next-generation devices.
Experience Level
Mid-level (8-10 years of experience in the silicon industry)
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with architects and teams to create new safety concepts and mechanisms.
- Performing safety analyses to ensure fault tolerance requirements are met.
- Defining safe architecture patterns.
- Reviewing and writing safety requirement specifications.
- Guiding teams on fault tolerance and diagnostics coverage.
- Reviewing safety designs for compliance and feasibility.
- Defining safety verification strategies.
- Ensuring achievement of diagnostic coverage metrics.
Requirements
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 10 years of experience for BS degree or 8 years for MS in silicon industry.
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., FSCP, FS Professional license).
- Experience in certifying devices from concept to certification for ASICs/PLDs/CPUs.
- Proficiency with safety analysis methodologies and requirements-management tooling.
- Strong communication skills for safety arguments.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Familiarity with RTL coding and SoC architecture.
- Desire to understand end-user needs.
- Ability to resolve complex issues efficiently.
- Self-driven and result-oriented.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
