Frontend Infrastructure CAD/Tools Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for developing and supporting frontend infrastructure and automation tools used in VLSI frontend development for Marvell’s Switch Business Unit. The role focuses on building tooling, integrating AI capabilities, and maintaining Unix and source-control environments that support EDA flows for datacenter and enterprise switch SoC development.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires 5+ years of experience in tools development and automation.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include developing automation and maintaining frontend infrastructure to support EDA flows and developer productivity.

• Develop and maintain automation and home-grown tools for frontend EDA flows using Python and Perl.
• Integrate AI capabilities (LLM, RAG) and existing AI tools into toolchains and workflows.
• Support and administer source control systems (Git/GitHub) and developer IDE integrations (e.g., DVT, Euclide, VS Code).
• Configure and maintain Unix/Linux environments and LSF/grid scripting for large-scale job execution.
• Support simulators, waveform analysis, linting, and other frontend verification tool flows.
• Diagnose and debug toolchain issues; collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve flows and developer experience.

Requirements

• Must-have: Minimum ~5 years in tools development and automation; proficient in Python and Perl; practical experience with Git/GitHub and Unix/Linux environments; experience integrating AI tools or LLM-based capabilities into workflows; strong debugging and communication skills.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with EDA frontend flows, pre-silicon verification (UVM/SystemVerilog), JavaScript, C/C++, web/PHP, IDE integrations, and LSF/grid scripting.

Education Requirements

B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent practical experience in tools/EDA development is typically accepted.
