FPGA Systems Development Engineer

Role Summary

Entry-level FPGA engineer responsible for developing and deploying FPGA/SoC solutions to support evaluation, testing, and integration of ultra-wideband products within the Aerospace, Defense and Communication business unit.

Work with cross-functional teams to implement HDL/embedded software, verify designs, and support lab and ATE validation.

Experience Level

Entry-level — suitable for recent graduates. (Graduate/early-career)

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include implementation, verification, and lab support for FPGA/SoC-based systems.

• Design and implement FPGA/SoC logic using HDL, vendor IP, and embedded software.
• Constrain FPGA designs and perform timing analysis.
• Develop and run behavioral models for design verification.
• Troubleshoot FPGA designs and related hardware.
• Participate in design reviews, produce documentation, and present demonstrations.
• Support product evaluation and testing in lab environments and on automated test equipment (ATE).
• Collaborate with digital design, product/test, and applications teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional attributes; preferred skills listed separately.

• Must-have: Hands-on experience programming FPGAs and/or SoCs.
• Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Must-have: Motivated problem solver with ability to work on multiple projects and meet schedules.
• Must-have: Ability to work collaboratively in a geographically distributed team.

• Nice-to-have: Experience with high-speed signaling, electronics design, and embedded software.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Intel/Altera or AMD/Xilinx devices and tools, including gigabit transceivers and high-speed memory interfaces.
• Nice-to-have: RTL/HDL experience and general digital design background.
• Nice-to-have: Software skills: C/C++, Python, TCL.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Engineering.
