Role Summary

Senior software engineer responsible for designing and delivering security solutions for FPGA, SoC, and embedded x86 products. Collaborates with cross-functional engineering, program management, and validation teams to integrate security across architecture, design, testing, and product release processes.

Based in Austin, TX. Remote may be considered for exceptional candidates. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include defining security architectures, implementing secure features, and supporting validation and certification activities.

  • Design, develop, and deliver security solutions for next-generation FPGA, SoC, and embedded x86 products across the product lifecycle.
  • Define and drive security requirements, architectures, and implementations (secure boot, cryptographic services, root-of-trust, access control).
  • Collaborate with engineering, program management, and validation teams to integrate security into architecture, design, testing, and product release processes.
  • Support Secure Development Lifecycle activities: threat modeling, code reviews, penetration testing, red teaming, and security feature validation.
  • Investigate and resolve complex security challenges, including critical customer escalations.
  • Contribute to scalable, innovative security architectures that address emerging threats and enable future product capabilities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and preferred qualifications.

  • Experience in platform security for SoC, FPGA, embedded x86, or ARM (threat modeling, cryptography, secure boot, TEE/TrustZone).
  • Hands-on FPGA/SoC development, validation, simulation, verification (UVM), hardware debugging, and lab testing.
  • Proficiency in Python and C; experience with Verilog, VHDL, or similar hardware description languages.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems including RTOS, embedded Linux, and hypervisors.
  • Experience with security certification efforts and standards (Common Criteria, FIPS, ISO21434, IEC62443) is valuable.
  • Ability to investigate and mitigate complex security issues and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship is provided for this role.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with Physical Unclonable Functions (PUFs), hardware root-of-trust technologies, industry experience in aerospace/defense, automotive, datacenter, or test & measurement, and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
