Job Title

FPGA Silicon Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Develop FPGA prototypes, lab test environments, and validation methods to validate FPGA silicon, IP, software, tools, and system integration from prototype to production. Collaborate with architecture, design, firmware, software, and tools teams to define validation strategy and deliver qualified product releases.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires 5+ years of relevant post-silicon validation experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing representative FPGA prototypes, implementing tests, and debugging silicon.

  • Design FPGA prototypes that mimic customer use models to validate silicon, IP, software, and tools.
  • Develop lab-based test environments and synthetic test content to characterize functionality, performance, and power.
  • Define and execute silicon validation strategies, test plans, and continuous-improvement initiatives for validation methodologies.
  • Apply hardware and software tools and techniques to ensure functional coverage and meet performance and power targets.
  • Implement digital logic in FPGA prototypes and evaluate architecture vs. design trade-offs.
  • Debug silicon bring-up issues from prototype to production; document fixes and root-cause analyses.
  • Collaborate across architecture, design, software, firmware, and tools teams to drive validation and product qualification.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills.

  • 5+ years hands-on experience in post-silicon validation, test planning, test development, and debug.
  • Strong understanding of FPGA validation methodologies with practical system validation and debug experience.
  • Proven ability to debug silicon bring-up issues and work from prototype through production.
  • Experience with Python and Verilog is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with FPGA architecture is an advantage.
  • Experience with high-speed test and measurement equipment (e.g., V93K tester, high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, high-frequency signal/pulse generators, power supplies) is a plus.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or a related field.
