FPGA Silicon Validation Engineer
AlteraJob Title
FPGA Silicon Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for post-silicon bring-up and validation of high-speed analog I/O and PHY designs (transmitters, receivers, clocking, voltage regulators) for DDR, LPDDR and MIPI interfaces. Works across silicon, package, board and firmware teams to characterize electrical behavior and drive issue resolution.
The role develops scalable validation frameworks and FPGA-based test content to validate high-speed channel implementation and calibration flows across multiple silicon programs.
Experience Level
Mid-level. No explicit years-of-experience stated in the posting.
Responsibilities
Lead post-silicon validation activities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve design and test coverage.
- Own end-to-end validation for high-speed I/O and PHY across multiple silicon programs.
- Develop scalable validation frameworks and custom FPGA test content.
- Execute post-silicon bring-up, electrical characterization, parametrization, and reliability testing.
- Debug electrical and protocol issues across silicon, package, board, firmware, and software domains.
- Influence board design regarding channel implementation, stack-up, routing, and I/O termination.
- Collaborate with firmware teams on test algorithms and validate calibration flows.
- Partner with circuit design teams to review architectures and recommend improvements based on silicon results.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain experience.
- Hands-on expertise validating high-speed interfaces and PHYs such as DDR, LPDDR, and MIPI.
- Strong understanding of high-speed signal integrity, power integrity, timing, analog/mixed-signal behavior, and electrical measurement methodologies.
- Proficiency with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, BERTs, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, and pattern generators.
- Experience in post-silicon debug and cross-domain issue resolution (silicon, package, board, firmware, software).
- Proficiency in scripting or programming for validation automation and data analysis; experience using Quartus for FPGA validation enablement and debug.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
