Job Title
FPGA Silicon Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Performs functional verification of FPGA silicon designs, developing and executing verification plans, testbenches, and simulation models to ensure designs meet microarchitecture specifications.
Works within the FPGA verification team and collaborates with architects, RTL designers, physical design, and systems/software engineers to identify and resolve pre-silicon issues.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 7 years of relevant FPGA/RTL verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning, implementing, and executing verification activities to validate FPGA designs.
- Develop verification plans, testbenches, and verification environments to achieve required coverage against microarchitecture specifications.
- Design and run system and gate-level simulation models; analyze power and timing impacts.
- Execute verification plans and regression suites; reproduce, root-cause, and debug pre-silicon failures.
- Implement corrective measures and verify fixes across block-to-top integrations.
- Collaborate with FPGA architects, RTL developers, physical design, and software teams for integration and feature verification.
- Maintain and improve verification infrastructure, methodologies, and automation.
- Document test plans, verification strategies (e.g., gate-level simulation, power-aware simulations), and lead technical reviews.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed as nice-to-have.
-
Must-have: Minimum 7 years experience in functional verification of FPGA/RTL designs.
-
Must-have: Experience with SystemVerilog.
-
Must-have: Experience with UVM or OVM methodology.
-
Must-have: Scripting experience (Perl or Python).
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with code coverage and functional coverage.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with X-propagation and multiple RTL simulators.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with regression testing, reusable verification components, and Ethernet protocols.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
