Role Summary
Design, implement, verify and bring up FPGA-based prototypes and hardware test solutions for SoC and electronic systems. Work within Hardware Engineering to optimize power, performance and area, and to improve yield, test time, and product quality.
This role collaborates across design, verification, validation, software and manufacturing teams to deliver production-ready hardware and test flows.
Experience Level
Senior-level role. The posting requires 5+ years of relevant experience; candidate should be able to work independently and make decisions that affect work beyond the immediate team.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Plan, design, optimize, verify and test electronic systems, with emphasis on FPGA and prototyping platforms.
- Integrate features and functionality into hardware designs per roadmaps and specifications.
- Perform simulations and analyses and implement designs balancing power, performance and area.
- Collaborate with design, verification, validation, software, systems engineering and architecture teams to implement requirements and test solutions.
- Evaluate, characterize and develop manufacturing and bring-up solutions to meet quality and schedule targets.
- Assess reliability of materials and techniques; introduce automation and optimizations to maximize productivity.
- Identify potential design flaws, compatibility or compliance issues during assessments.
- Produce detailed technical documentation for hardware projects.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 5+ years of relevant hardware engineering experience, with demonstrable FPGA prototyping or FPGA design work.
- Experience with hardware bring-up, system integration, verification and testing.
- Strong simulation and design-analysis skills and familiarity with power/performance/area tradeoffs.
- Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and to drive implementation of test and production solutions.
- Good technical writing and verbal communication skills; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ASIC flows, Cadence Virtuoso, C/C++ or system architecture experience.
- Prior work on DSP, RF, analog/mixed-signal or manufacturing process characterization.
Education Requirements
One of the following academic qualifications is expected: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or a related field (typically with 2+ years hardware experience); OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or related field (typically with 1+ year experience); OR PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or a related field.
