Job Title

FPGA Engineer, Senior

Role Summary

Lead microelectronics and FPGA-focused engineering efforts for advanced DoD systems, including design, verification, fabrication, packaging, and assurance. Provide technical leadership, programmatic advice, and engineering assessments for government customers.

Work centers on architecture, implementation, verification, fielding, and sustainment of FPGA-based systems and associated trust and assurance activities.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires 7+ years of FPGA development and research experience across multiple device families and platforms.

Responsibilities

Accountable for technical leadership and delivery across FPGA and microelectronics programs.

  • Lead design, verification, testing, production acceptance, and sustainment of FPGA and microelectronics systems.
  • Provide technical assessments, strategic planning, and engineering evaluations for government customers.
  • Develop hardware architecture, block diagrams, state diagrams, and schematics to meet requirements.
  • Create hardware design specifications and technical plans from requirements or concept sketches.
  • Perform circuit-level design, implementation, verification, formal acceptance, and production test planning.
  • Conduct functional analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition.
  • Advise on fabrication, packaging, technology node access, and supply-chain integrity related to FPGA solutions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, clearance, and experience for successful performance.

  • 7+ years of FPGA development and research across multiple device families and platforms.
  • Proven experience with Hardware Description Languages (HDL) and embedded design.
  • Experience implementing HDL for systems-on-chip or FPGAs, with or without microcontrollers.
  • Familiarity with hardware and design security concepts, verification methodologies, and test benches; experience with embedded software integration.
  • Knowledge of alternatives/tools for FPGA development (e.g., HDL Coder, Xilinx System Generator).
  • Ability to perform technical planning, circuit-level design, implementation, verification, and production tests.
  • Ability to lead hardware design efforts, produce architecture plans, and generate functional diagrams and schematics.
  • Active Secret clearance required (or ability to obtain and maintain eligibility for access to classified information).

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience verifying Defense microelectronics systems and working with a variety of IP blocks.
  • Experience with Universal Verification Methodology (UVM) and continuous integration practices.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred; Doctorate in those fields is a plus.
