Senior FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Lead FPGA and microelectronics design, verification, and trust/assurance programs supporting advanced sensor and processing systems. Provide technical assessments, strategic planning, engineering evaluations, and program leadership across design, fabrication, packaging, and sustainment for government customers.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 7+ years of FPGA development and research experience across multiple device families and platforms.
Responsibilities
Lead technical and program efforts from concept through production.
- Lead design, verification, testing, fielding, and sustainment of advanced microelectronics and FPGA systems.
- Provide technical and programmatic advice and conduct technical assessments and engineering evaluations for government customers.
- Define architecture; produce functional block diagrams, state diagrams, and schematics; perform requirements allocation and interface definition.
- Develop hardware design specifications and plans; oversee circuit-level design, implementation, verification, acceptance, and production testing.
- Integrate hardware and embedded software; apply hardware design security and assurance practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, verification experience, and clearance.
- Extensive FPGA development experience across multiple device families and platforms.
- Proficiency in Hardware Description Languages (HDL) and embedded design; implementing HDL for SoCs or FPGAs with or without microcontrollers.
- Experience with verification methodologies, test benches, and embedded software integration.
- Familiarity with alternatives to HDL for FPGA development (e.g., HDL Coder, Xilinx System Generator).
- Ability to perform functional analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition.
- Proven ability to lead hardware design efforts including architecture and block-level design.
- Experience planning and executing verification, acceptance, and production tests.
- Secret clearance required.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred; Doctorate (PhD) in Electrical or Computer Engineering is a plus. No certifications or explicit equivalent-experience language specified.
