FPGA Engineer, Mid

Role Summary

Support DoD microelectronics and FPGA design programs by providing technical and programmatic engineering support across design, verification, fabrication, packaging, trust, and assurance. Work with government clients on technical assessments, strategic planning, engineering evaluations, and sustainment of advanced microelectronics systems.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires about 3 years of relevant FPGA development and verification experience.

Responsibilities

Provide engineering expertise throughout the hardware lifecycle and advise program teams and government clients on FPGA and microelectronics solutions.

  • Design, implement, and verify FPGA and SoC hardware using HDL.
  • Develop hardware design specifications, functional block diagrams, state diagrams, and schematics.
  • Perform circuit-level design, implementation, validation, acceptance, and production testing.
  • Conduct functional analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition.
  • Lead hardware architecture activities and support system-level integration and sustainment.
  • Support security, integrity, trust, and assurance efforts for microelectronics systems.
  • Advise on fabrication, packaging, and technology node access as required by programs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and security requirements:

  • Approximately 3 years of FPGA development and research across multiple device families and platforms.
  • Proficient in HDL (VHDL/Verilog) development and embedded design; experience implementing HDL for systems-on-chip or FPGAs with or without microcontrollers.
  • Experience with verification methodologies and testbench development.
  • Knowledge of hardware and design security concepts.
  • Familiarity with the microelectronics design and verification landscape, including various IP blocks.
  • Experience with Universal Verification Methodology (UVM).
  • Experience with continuous integration development practices.
  • Ability to develop design specifications and perform technical planning, verification, and production tests.
  • Secret clearance required; position subject to security investigation for access to classified information.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with HDL Coder or Xilinx System Generator.
  • Experience in defense microelectronics verification projects.
  • Top Secret clearance preferred.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Computer Engineering preferred; Doctorate in these fields is a plus.
