FPGA Engineer I - Multi-Product Power & Digital (Onsite)

Role Summary

Design, verify, and deploy FPGA logic for products in the Multi-Product Power & Digital (MPD) department supporting aerospace & defense systems. Work spans architecture, RTL implementation, verification, hardware bring-up, and supporting production releases.

This role is onsite in McKinney, TX and offers relocation eligibility. The position requires collaboration with hardware, firmware, systems, and production teams.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Engineer I); typically 0–3 years of relevant FPGA or embedded digital design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include implementing FPGA designs, verifying functionality, and supporting product lifecycle from development to production.

• Design and implement FPGA blocks in VHDL or Verilog.
• Create and run simulation testbenches and perform functional verification.
• Use tools such as Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus Pro, or Microsemi Libero for synthesis and implementation.
• Perform board-level bring-up, debugging, and validation using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
• Work with cross-functional teams on architecture, interfaces, and system integration.
• Produce design documentation, participate in design reviews, and support production handoff.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical abilities for the role, followed by relevant nice-to-have skills.

• Must-have: Hands-on FPGA experience implementing designs in VHDL or Verilog.
• Must-have: Proficiency with FPGA toolflows (Vivado, Quartus Pro, or Libero) and synthesis/implementation concepts.
• Must-have: Experience with simulation tools and testbench development (e.g., ModelSim, Questa).
• Must-have: Hardware bring-up and debugging experience on FPGA/board-level systems.
• Familiarity with timing constraints, timing closure, and digital design best practices.
• Nice-to-have: Scripting for automation (Python, Tcl), experience with high-speed interfaces, or prior aerospace/defense product experience.
• Nice-to-have: Version control and CI/CD exposure for FPGA development.

Education Requirements

Candidate should hold a STEM bachelor's degree (for example: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field).
