Role Summary

Entry-level FPGA engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and verifying FPGA/firmware for embedded systems. The role is on-site in Melbourne, FL and reports to the engineering team.

Experience Level

Entry-level (0–3 years). This is an Engineer I position for early-career applicants.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities for this role include:

• Write and maintain RTL (Verilog or VHDL) for FPGA designs.
• Develop and run simulations and unit testbenches to verify logic.
• Perform hardware bring-up and lab debugging on FPGA development boards and prototypes.
• Integrate FPGA logic with other system components (processors, peripherals, high-speed I/O).
• Document designs, test procedures, and maintain version-controlled source code.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, and firmware engineers to meet project requirements.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications and expectations:

• U.S. Person or able to obtain required export authorizations (required for employment eligibility).
• Ability to work on-site in Melbourne, FL.
• Practical experience with RTL design using Verilog or VHDL.
• Familiarity with FPGA toolflows (e.g., synthesis, implementation, bitstream generation).
• Experience with testbench-based simulation and basic hardware debug (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).
• Effective written and verbal communication; ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with Vivado, Quartus, or equivalent vendor tools.
• Experience with high-speed interfaces (PCIe, SERDES, DDR) or embedded systems integration.
• Familiarity with scripting for verification and automation (Python, Tcl).
• Prior work in aerospace, defense, or regulated industries and experience with security/background checks.
