Job Title

FPGA Engineer

Role Summary

Design and deliver FPGA-based solutions that accelerate Susquehanna's ultra-low-latency trading systems. The role sits at the intersection of hardware and trading: you will architect, implement, simulate, test, and deploy FPGA hardware and firmware in production trading environments.

You will collaborate closely with Quantitative Researchers and Strategy Developers to translate trading requirements into scalable, high-performance hardware designs.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires substantial hands-on experience (see Requirements).

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

  • Partner with researchers and strategy developers to gather requirements and define hardware technical solutions.
  • Architect and design FPGA/ASIC solutions, including board-level considerations and selection of components.
  • Implement RTL (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog), perform simulation, verification, and hardware bring-up.
  • Integrate hardware with software APIs and deploy designs to production environments.
  • Measure, profile, and iterate on designs to improve latency, throughput, and reliability.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills:

  • Must-have: 8+ years of FPGA or ASIC architecture, design, and development using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
  • Preferred: experience with high-speed interfaces (Ethernet, PCIe).
  • Plus: familiarity with high-level software languages such as C#, C, or Java is beneficial.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline β€” or foreign equivalent; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
