Role Summary

Design, implement, and optimize FPGA-based solutions for signal processing, radar, and electronic warfare (EW) systems within the Warfare Systems group at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. Work across requirements translation, hardware/software integration, verification, and test activities to deliver field-capable systems.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include system-level FPGA work, integration, and verification for radar/EW applications.

• Design and implement FPGA logic for signal processing chains (architecture, RTL, timing closure).
• Develop and validate algorithms on FPGA platforms and support hardware/software co-design.
• Perform RF chain analysis and radar/EW system performance analysis and modeling.
• Support system integration, lab test execution, hardware bring-up, and troubleshooting.
• Prepare test plans, procedures, test reports, and technical documentation for customer deliveries.
• Execute verification, validation, and acceptance testing; identify and mitigate technical risk.
• Support deployments and field test activities as required (multi-week assignments possible).

• Proven FPGA development experience (RTL in VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog, synthesis, timing closure).
• Experience with signal processing algorithms and tools (MATLAB or equivalent) for EW/radar applications.
• Hands-on test, integration, and verification experience in lab environments; familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop setups and networking.
• Practical skills across software, hardware, and system-level debugging.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance (Secret clearance minimum to start).
• Willingness to travel for deployments and tests (typical travel 0–10%; multi-week deployments possible).
• Able to perform physical tasks in lab/field settings and lift up to 50 lbs; able to work outdoors in varied conditions.
• Strong written and verbal communication to produce test documentation and reports.
• Nice-to-have: prior experience with radar/EW systems, RF chain analysis tools, and sensor system integration.

Education Requirements

Degree and experience guidance: Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (e.g., electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, or similar) plus 5 years relevant experience; Master's plus 3 years; PhD or JD with 0 years; or High School Diploma/equivalent plus 9 years relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable where specified.
