FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
As an FPGA Engineer you will design, develop, verify, and support certification of FPGA-based systems for aerospace and defense applications. The role emphasizes RTL design, hardware verification, integration, and working within safety-critical processes.
This is an onsite position based in Melbourne, FL supporting projects that require compliance with aerospace standards and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include development, verification, and certification activities for FPGA/ASIC designs.
- Capture and maintain requirements traceability through the development lifecycle.
- Develop RTL designs and simulation environments (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog).
- Create and execute hardware test cases, procedures, and integration activities.
- Define and implement verification strategies and hardware-based verification environments.
- Perform ASIC, FPGA, and SoPC verification using analysis, simulation, inspection, and testing.
- Develop and maintain DO-254 DAL-A artifacts and support FAA SOI audits and certification activities as required.
- Participate in design and peer reviews; provide technical guidance and mentorship when appropriate.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tools; preferred items listed separately.

Must-have: RTL development and testbench creation using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.

Must-have: Experience with FPGA development and verification tools such as Questasim, Xilinx Vivado, Microsemi Libero, Synplify Pro, or equivalents.

Must-have: Practical experience in hardware integration, writing/executing hardware test cases, and system-level bring-up.

Must-have: Experience working in Linux/Unix environments and proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages (C, C++, Python, Perl).

Must-have: Familiarity with common data interfaces and protocols (PCIe, DDR, I2C, Ethernet, ARINC-429, or similar).

Preferred / Nice-to-have: DO-254 design assurance and certification experience; supporting aerospace, avionics, or safety-critical systems.

Preferred / Nice-to-have: Advanced verification methodologies (UVM, constrained-random, functional and code coverage).

Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or related field plus relevant professional experience; or a Master's/advanced degree in a related field with relevant experience. The posting allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree.
