Role Summary
Design, develop, verify, and maintain safety-critical FPGA firmware and embedded avionics software for TCAS and transponder applications. Collaborate with hardware engineers, system architects, certification authorities, and customers to ensure design assurance and certification compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on firmware/FPGA design, verification, documentation, and certification support.
- Design, develop, verify, and maintain safety-critical FPGA firmware for TCAS/transponder systems following DO-254 processes.
- Implement RTL in VHDL and/or Verilog and develop simulation/testbenches.
- Perform requirements-based verification and participate in design assurance reviews.
- Produce design and certification documentation (HRDs, HDDs, HCIAs, PHACs) and support certification activities.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers, system architects, certification authorities, and customers to define and satisfy requirements.
- Communicate technical status across teams; travel up to 10% as needed.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Experience with Xilinx and Microchip FPGAs and associated tools (ISE, Vivado, Libero).
- Experience with simulation tools such as Active HDL or QuestaSim.
- Proficient in VHDL and/or Verilog RTL coding and verification practices.
- Experience developing firmware for embedded or avionics systems; familiarity with FAA/EASA-certified systems is beneficial.
- Strong written and verbal communication and ability to work with cross-functional teams and customers.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of the DO-254 airborne electronic hardware lifecycle and requirements-based verification.
- Experience with ASIC development or formal certification documentation processes.
