Job Title
FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement FPGA architectures and high-throughput data paths for radar sensing systems, translating radar and signal-processing algorithms into reliable FPGA implementations. Work closely with RF, embedded, software, and systems teams to deliver production-ready sensing capability.
Experience Level
Mid-level β 5β7 years developing FPGA-based systems for radar, RF, communications, electronic warfare, or other high-speed signal-processing applications.
Responsibilities
Accountable for FPGA architecture, IP integration, algorithm implementation, and system validation.
- Design and implement FPGA architectures, streaming pipelines, and high-throughput data paths for radar systems.
- Develop and integrate vendor and custom IP (SPI, AXI, DMA, FIFOs), memory interfaces, and processor interfaces.
- Translate radar/signal-processing algorithms (FFTs, filtering, beamforming, detection) into efficient RTL/HLS implementations.
- Debug and optimize designs for timing closure, resource utilization, throughput, latency, and clock-domain crossings.
- Lead hardware/software integration and system-level validation in the lab.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers on FPGA design and implementation.
Requirements
Core technical requirements and eligibility criteria.
- 5β7 years developing FPGA-based systems for radar, RF, communications, electronic warfare, or similar high-speed signal-processing domains.
- Experience with modern AMD/Xilinx or Intel FPGA platforms, including vendor IP integration, DMA, processor interfaces, and timing closure.
- Strong RTL development skills using SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL, HLS, or similar, with architecture-through-validation experience.
- Hands-on experience with high-speed data movement, memory interfaces, clock-domain crossings, and FPGA debugging in lab environments.
- Experience implementing DSP algorithms (FFTs, filtering, beamforming, detection) on FPGA platforms.
- Effective collaborator across RF, embedded, software, and systems engineering teams and able to own complex technical problems.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship; role may require obtaining and maintaining a U.S. government security clearance in the future.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with modern radar architectures (MIMO, phased arrays, FMCW, pulse-Doppler, passive radar) and deployed radar or defense systems.
- Experience with embedded Linux, FPGA/software co-design, device drivers, or production system deployment.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Preferred: advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, Radar Systems, or a related field. The posting did not state explicit equivalent-experience language.
