Job Title

FPGA Development Tools Engineer - Intern

Role Summary

Internship on the Quartus compiler team working on software that enables synthesis, placement, and routing of Intel FPGAs. The role supports compiler modules from device modeling through timing closure and runtime and requires collaborating with hardware and software engineers.

Experience Level

Entry-level (intern). Position is for a student currently enrolled in an advanced degree program.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining compiler software for FPGA devices and shipping features that improve timing, area, and runtime.

  • Research, design, develop, and optimize software for the Quartus compiler.
  • Develop software support for successful routing of next-generation FPGA devices.
  • Own and enhance compiler modules spanning device modeling, timing closure, and runtime.
  • Implement new features and root-cause and fix existing issues within a large codebase.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external customers and engineering teams.
  • Work on compiler optimizations related to area, maximum frequency (Fmax), runtime, and memory.

Requirements

Must-have technical experience and eligibility requirements.

  • Experience developing software support for routing and compilation targeting FPGA devices.
  • Experience with device modeling, timing closure, and runtime systems.
  • Proven ability to implement features and diagnose/fix defects in a large software codebase.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and interact with internal and external customers.
  • Must be eligible for any required U.S. export authorizations.
