Job Title

FPGA Development Tools Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the High Level Synthesis (HLS) team responsible for developing and maintaining compiler toolchains that translate C/C++ into efficient hardware implementations for FPGAs. The role focuses on implementing compiler passes, optimizing compilation flows, integrating and testing features, and validating outputs for performance and resource usage.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” 3+ years of relevant engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include:

  • Develop and maintain HLS compiler infrastructure and toolchain components.
  • Implement compiler passes and code transformations to improve hardware synthesis quality.
  • Analyze and optimize the compilation flow from C/C++ to hardware description languages.
  • Research compiler techniques and optimizations for AI and compute workloads.
  • Integrate, test, and benchmark new features with emphasis on performance and resource utilization.
  • Debug and validate compiler outputs and resolve synthesis issues.
  • Document design decisions and contribute to internal knowledge bases.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical qualifications:

  • Must-have: 3+ years of practical experience using C/C++ in engineering or compiler projects.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with compiler concepts (parsing, code generation, optimization).
  • Must-have: Exposure to digital logic design fundamentals and FPGA/ASIC hardware flows.
  • Must-have: Ability to integrate, test, debug, and validate compiler outputs.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience or familiarity with MLIR, LLVM, or Clang.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to HLS tools (e.g., Vivado HLS, Intel HLS) and hardware description languages (Verilog/VHDL).
  • Nice-to-have: Coursework or internship experience in compiler development or hardware synthesis; experience with version control (Git); strong communication and teamwork skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required. The posting specifies 3+ years of relevant experience in addition to the degree.
