Role Summary

The FPGA Development Tools Engineer will be responsible for developing firmware for Altera's FPGA products. This role involves creating low-level firmware modules for various hardware peripherals, testing them on different platforms, and collaborating with global teams to meet project deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.

Experience Level

Mid-level: Minimum of 4-8 years of experience required.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include:

  • Develop low-level firmware modules for hardware peripherals.
  • Test firmware on simulation, emulation, and hardware platforms.
  • Collaborate with global teams on technical matters.
  • Ensure schedule commitments are met with high quality standards.
  • Debug firmware and hardware issues.

Requirements

The following qualifications are required:

  • Expert-level development experience in C/C++ (preferably C++).
  • Deep understanding of device drivers and bare metal programming for various peripherals (e.g., DMA, I2C, UART).
  • Strong knowledge of bus architectures and processor architectures (Arm/SiFive E61 Core).
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (Zephyr/FreeRTOS).
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in firmware development on FPGAs is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Quantum Leaps Real-Time Framework is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of transceiver protocols (e.g., PCIe/Ethernet) is beneficial.

Education Requirements

B.E/B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science or Electronics Engineering.
