FPGA Development Tools Engineer
Role Summary
The FPGA Development Tools Engineer researches, designs, develops, and optimizes software tools that enable use of FPGAs. The role focuses on compilers, flows, assemblers, runtimes, models, and software frameworks that are tightly coupled to FPGA hardware, IP, and boards.
Work contributes to enabling FPGA acceleration in domains such as deep learning, DSP algorithms, and data analytics.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and optimize compilers, flows, assemblers, runtimes, firmware, and models closely coupled to FPGA silicon, IP, and boards.
- Create software abstractions and frameworks to accelerate workloads on FPGAs (e.g., deep learning, DSP, data analytics).
- Leverage knowledge of FPGA hardware, logic design, board design, semiconductor devices, and chip layout to inform tool development.
- Respond to customer or client requests and resolve issues as they arise.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and system teams to integrate tools with FPGA platforms.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and conditions:
- Proficient in C++ and Python (working experience required).
- Experience developing tools, compilers, runtimes, or similar software for hardware-accelerated platforms is expected.
- Strong practical knowledge of FPGA hardware, logic design, board-level considerations, semiconductor devices, or chip layout.
- Applicants must be eligible for any required Canada export authorizations.
- Canadian work experience is not required.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with Verilog and TCL.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (minimum qualification listed in the posting).
