Job Title

FPGA Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and verify FPGA-based digital systems for customer projects as part of an engineering services team. Work includes RTL design, functional verification, synthesis, timing closure, and board-level integration for embedded and ASIC/SoC interfaces.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Specific years of experience are not stated in the source posting.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop RTL (Verilog/VHDL) for FPGA implementations and maintain design documentation.
  • Create and run simulation testbenches and perform functional verification.
  • Perform synthesis, implement designs in target FPGA toolflows, and achieve timing closure.
  • Integrate FPGA logic with firmware, processors, and board-level peripherals; support system bring-up and debug.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, systems) and support customer deliveries.
  • Maintain version control, create constraints, and optimize resource and power usage.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills:

  • Must-have: Practical experience with Verilog or VHDL and FPGA development flows (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel/Altera Quartus).
  • Must-have: Experience with simulation and verification tools (ModelSim/Questa or similar) and creating testbenches.
  • Must-have: Knowledge of synthesis, timing constraints, and timing-closure techniques.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with scripting (TCL, Python) for tool automation and build reproducibility; experience with version control (Git).
  • Must-have: Experience with board bring-up, FPGA I/O, and debugging with logic analyzers or similar tools.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with high-speed serial interfaces (PCIe, SERDES), SoC/ARM integration, embedded firmware interaction, or hardware/software co-design.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
